The 30”-scale 4-string bass is downsized enough to be comfortable to play while still providing a good focused tone that will work in virtually any playing context. While not common, the 30” short scale basses have been popular with even pro-level bass players since the 60’s due to their ease of playability as well as improved portability.

Although not as well known or highly regarded as Alder, Poplar is a fine tonewood that is reminiscent of Alder in sonic character.
