BIOGRAPHY
Nilanjana Ghosh Dastidar is a distinguished bassist and vocalist from Kolkata, India, celebrated for her collaborations with renowned composer A.R. Rahman. Her musical journey began at the age of five with formal training in Indian classical music. In 2015, she gained prominence as a top 5 finalist on Zee Bangla's "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa."
Transitioning from singing to bass guitar, Nilanjana has been a vital member of A.R. Rahman's band since December 2021. Her performances have spanned across India, Switzerland, Paris, Germany, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, and 25 states across the USA.
In addition to her live performances, Nilanjana has showcased her musical prowess through various covers and collaborations. Notably, she performed a tribute to A.R. Rahman alongside Gitanjali Iyer and Sayani Palit.
Nilanjana's dedication to her craft is evident in her choice of instruments. She is a passionate advocate for Cort basses, finding them to be the perfect balance of tone, clarity, and performance. A recent recipient of a Cort Ultra Ash 5 from the Indian Cort company, Nilanjana praises the instrument's depth and versatility.
