BIOGRAPHY
Hamza Kazi, known professionally as "The Hamzoid," is a distinguished Indian drummer and music industry professional based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His musical journey began at the age of four when his parents gifted him a toy drum kit, sparking a lifelong passion for drumming. After years of air drumming, he was inspired by Tool's 'Lateralus' album to pursue drumming seriously. His dedication led to his first drum kit, a Mapex, which he later endorsed.
Throughout his career, Hamza has been associated with several prominent bands, including Workshop, Coshish, Reverse Polarity, and Axetortion. His versatility spans various genres, from pop rock to progressive rock and metal. Notably, his band Coshish was signed to Universal Music, and their debut album 'Firdous' garnered critical acclaim. In 2014, Hamza's exceptional drumming skills were recognized when he won the Rolling Stone Jack Daniel’s Award for Best Drummer.
In addition to his performance career, Hamza has contributed to the music industry through teaching, conducting clinics, and engaging in studio sessions. He has also been involved in designing hardware and judging competitions, showcasing his multifaceted expertise. His endorsement by Paiste Cymbals in 2012 made him the first Indian to join the same roster as his idol, Danny Carey.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Hamza has taken on significant roles in the music industry. He served as the Head of Music at Dharma Cornerstone Agency (DCA), where he emphasized the importance of building strong fan communities and leveraging technology to enhance the music experience. Hamza has also been involved in discussions about emerging trends in the music industry, focusing on the impact of technology and the evolving relationship between artists and their audiences.
